Tricia Powell was pleased to be invited to speak with Calvert Citizens for a Healthy Community (CCHC) on Tuesday evening in Lusby. While she touched on several issues including Smart Growth, the opioid epidemic, and transportation, the focus of the evening was on environmental protections. Tricia spoke about the need for a quantitative risk assessment to be completed at Cove Point, as well as the importance of having a Board of County Commissioners who watch-dog facilities like the Dominion LNG plant at Cove Point.
Tricia Powell also noted the importance of reviewing the evacuation plan around the Dominion facility. With a plant in a residential community and so many lives at stake where the potential for disaster is so high, the current evacuation plan needs to be evaluated for efficiency and safety. Tricia Powell supports the residents at Cove point and shares their environmental concerns.
Through a question and answer period, Tricia had the opportunity to listen to the concerns of CCHC members and other at the event. She heard the groups need to have a stronger voice in all levels of government and conveyed her desire to be that voice.
